Vehicle Description

When it was introduced in the early 1980s, the Porsche 944 was praised for its athletic, communicative and well-balanced driving personality. It's inline four made around 150 hp while a turbocharged version that later debuted made around 220 hp, boosting the fun factor even more. Here we have a 944 that absolutely pegs the fun meter thanks largely to an engine swap to a muscle-bound 6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate motor that makes nearly triple the output of the original inline four. See the pictured dyno chart for more detail. But this is not just an engine swap; this amazing restomod also features upgraded suspension, brakes and interior components that stay true to the 944's mission of being an incredibly well-rounded sports car. Only now it also sports acceleration that'll pin you to the seat when you lean into it. A stack of receipts and even a PowerPoint presentation detailing this car's "no expense spared" restomod journey are included. From top to bottom and front to back, this 944 restomod shows a high level of quality. The mostly original gray finish looks great, and the upgrade to 944 "Turbo" body components, such as the smoother front end, make for a sharper and more aggressive look in keeping with this car's personality. Inside, it's the same story with the upgrade to Sparco racing seats and steering wheel. They even reskinned the dash and console with handstitched suede which further adds to the Porsche's massive appeal. A Kenwood AM/FM/CD audio system with satellite radio capability also comes along for the ride. Out on the road this car is essentially an amusement park ride you drive. Throttle response is crisp and linear, and when you lean into it and run up through a few gears you'd swear the car has had an F-15s afterburners installed. Yet all that power is easily controlled and the athletic, well-rounded handling and strong braking the 944 is known for are still here as well.
